Partner Sarah Marmor has been appointed the inaugural Chair of the Court Theatre’s Producers’ Circle, a group of devoted and loyal patrons who support the creative artists and inspiring scholars involved in Court Theatre productions. Ms. Marmor has been a member of the Producer’s Circle and the Board of Trustees of Court Theatre since 2017. She is a passionate advocate for the arts. She served as Chair of the Court Theatre’s highly successful 2018 Annual Gala, “Tonight, Tonight,” and also serves as Vice President of the Lawyers for the Creative Arts Board of Directors.
In her role as Chair of the Producers’ Circle, Ms. Marmor will represent current and prospective members through regular communications and events, support the efforts to grow the Producers’ Circle, and serve as a liaison between the Producers’ Circle and the Board of Trustees. Established in 1955, Court Theatre is the University of Chicago’s Center for Classic Theatre. Court Theatre puts on five plays per season, which are attended by over 35,000 people, in addition to various smaller performance events such as play readings. Court Theatre curates large-scale, interdisciplinary theatrical experiences, develops new translations and adaptations of classic texts and hosts events related to the Theatre's programming throughout the University of Chicago’s campus and the greater Hyde Park area. Court Theatre also provides numerous internships to University of Chicago students.
Regarding her appointment, Ms. Marmor stated, “I’m excited to connect with fellow arts patrons who are interested in getting a deeper grounding in the plays Court is putting on. We are so lucky to be affiliated with a world class academic institution like the University of Chicago and will be taking advantage of its intellectual fire power for our programs. It will make for some really engaging and enlightening events.”
