Scharf Banks Marmor Co-Hosts Chicago Bar Foundation Investing In Justice Campaign Reception

In support and recognition of the Chicago Bar Foundation’s Investing in Justice Campaign, Scharf Banks Marmor along with Grant Law and Zuber Lawler & Del Duca recently co-hosted a reception for corporate counsel and NAMWOLF member firms.  Less than half of the roughly 700,000 low-income people in the Chicago area who will face a legal problem this year will be able to get the legal help they need because there is insufficient capacity in the pro bono and legal aid system.   100% of individual contributions to the CBF’s Investing in Justice Campaign go directly to support the work of more than 30 pro bono and legal aid organizations and enables them to provide critical legal assistance to tens of thousands of people in need.

Guest speakers at the reception included long time CBF Board and Grants Committee Member Jeannine Cordero, Director and Counsel at American Express; Carrie Di Santo, Global Chief Compliance Officer at the CME Group who is the current President of the CBF Board of Directors; and Linda Coberly, Chicago Managing Partner of Winston & Strawn LLP, who is the 2019 Investing in Justice Campaign Chair.  Each of them reinforced the vital need for the Campaign and its significant impact in making the legal system more fair and efficient for everyone.  Over 150 law firms and corporate law departments are participating in the Campaign.  Since its inception in 2007, the Campaign has raised more than $16 million to support legal aid services in Chicago.
