Stephanie Scharf’s “First Chairs At Trial” Research the Focus of CLE Meetings

Partner Stephanie Scharf was an invited panelist at two conferences in November 2016, where she discussed her innovative research, First Chairs at Trial: More Women Need Seats at the Table, the first empirical study of the role women play in the courtroom.  Written with co-author Roberta Liebenberg, the study was funded by the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession and the American Bar Foundation.

On November 3, Stephanie spoke at the annual Women in Product Liability (WIPL) conference, held this year in Philadelphia under the auspices of the ABA’s Product Liability Committee, Section of Litigation. Stephanie’s co-panelists were the Hon. Cynthia M. Rufe, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; Hon. Arnold L. New, Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia; Roberta Liebenberg, Fine, Kaplan and Black, R.P.C., Philadelphia; and moderator Connie Mateo, Assistant General Counsel, Pfizer Inc.

Ms. Scharf also spoke at a November 17, 2016 webinar held by the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women.  The speakers included Michele Coleman Mayes, co-chair of the Commission and General Counsel for the New York Public Library.
