American Bar Association President Laurel Bellows has appointed Stephanie Scharf, effective August 8, 2012 to the ABA’s Commission on Women in the Profession as well as a special ABA Task Force to make recommendations for improving gender differences in lawyer compensation. Ms. Scharf is well known for her statistical analysis of the progress of women in private practice, under the auspices of research conducted by the NAWL Foundation. Commenting upon her appointment, Ms. Scharf stated: “I am deeply honored to be able to work with many distinguished lawyers involved with the Commission and the Task Force, and participate in moving the ABA forward in addressing these important issues."
